If You’re Green, You’re Growing

I recently read an article about “emerging artists”. This is a term used to describe artists that are just entering the gallery scene as opposed to “established artists” who’ve already made a name for themselves. Sometimes emerging artists are called “green”, and it’s not always meant in a fond way.

The best part of the article was a quote from Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald’s — “When you’re green, you’re growing. When you’re ripe, you rot.”

Now I’m definitely NOT saying that all the established artists are rotten. We are fortunate to be able to take in the knowledge and expertise of those who’ve gone before us. But it was nice to hear that people like me who are just getting started on the path don’t have to feel so discriminated against. New artists often have a hard time breaking into the scene. It’s that age-old “we can’t represent you unless you have sold in big galleries, but you can’t sell in big galleries unless you’re represented.”

Thank you Ray Kroc. I love the thought of growing, evolving, becoming. It’s much better than the thought of withering, wilting and rotting.

I read all these books about The Law of Attraction — it’s the principle that if you ask for something, take steps to achieve it and believe you will get it, then you WILL get it. I am living proof that it works.

Last July I was complaining about all the things I thought were wrong in my life, all the things that were missing. Over the last several months, I’ve seen dramatic changes in my life that are drawing me ever closer to my dream. READ MORE
