Art Classes for Children
I think it’s terrible that schools are cutting important subjects like art and music. Kids need a chance to explore their creativity and to give a voice to their imagination. Art allows children to express themselves in ways no other subject in school can. Small group classes, one-on-one lessons and parent participation classes introduce children to a variety of art media for play and self expression. All classes are offered in my studio in Arden Park.
Primary Colors
This is a class geared for the busy hands of preschoolers aged 3-5. In the Primary Colors classes, your little artist will explore lots and lots of different art media including tempera and watercolor paint, sculpture, paper-mache, glitter, glue, crayons and pastels, collage and play dough as they create a variety of process-oriented masterpieces.
Children will have the opportunity to spend as much or as little time at each of the two project stations each week. This is a parent participation, child-led class and the focus is on allowing children to learn through exploration. It’s about enjoying the process of creating art, not about the “finished product”.
Your child will bring home age appropriate works of art and you will learn how to appreciate and talk about art in a supportive and encouraging way.

Secondary Colors
These classed are matched with the skills of kindergardeners through sixth graders. Secondary Colors classes are a continuation of the art exploring learned in Primary Colors and include age appropriate projects in which children expand their mastery of drawing, painting, sculpture and collage.
A wide variety of art media is introduced as well as the works of famous artists. These classes meet after school or are available for home schooled children during the daytime.

Art Workshops
Several times a year I offer Art Workshops that are scheduled before major holidays. This gives children a chance to create gift or decorations for parents or loved ones in holiday themes — Valentines Day, Easter, Mother’s and Father’s Days, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah. Space is limited. You must arrive and depart on time as another group will immediately follow your group.

Private Lessons
Private and Semi-Private lessons are available for your child in watercolor painting, acrylic painting, basic drawing, collage and simple sculpture/mask making. Lessons are by appointment.
One-on-one Private Lessons: $45 for 90 minutes
Two or Three people in a lesson: $30 per person for 90 minutes

Art Parties
If you’re a parent of a Sacramento kid, you’ve probably been to more than your share of birthday parties at bounce warehouses, trampoline warehouses, bowing allies or laser tag venues (and let’s not even talk about the scary rat serving up pizza and video games). You might have even hired a petting zoo or clown to come to your house. BUT, have you ever had an art party?
Sacramento Art Classes now offers Art Parties for teens or kids in your home. We come to your home for one hour with all the supplies and materials needed to create a fun take-home art project. You’ll save money on goody bags because the project itself is the goody bag. Parties are by appointment.
