Art Classes for Adults

Whether you’re a beginning or a seasoned artist, you’ll learn something new and fully enjoy yourself in one of Margaret’s classes. Why not try something new or give a friend the gift of art? Small group classes, workshops and private lessons are a great way to explore your creativity in a supportive environment. Most classes are offered in my studio in Arden Oaks.

Fabric Bowl Making with Paverpol

Come see all the great things you can do with Paverpol — the amazing fabric hardener available exclusively at University Art in Sacramento. Each month I will be featuring a new project with Paverpol. Join me at the San Jose University Art location for a fabric/paper bowl making class. You’ll create a beautiful bowl to display in your home.

“50 Shades of Grey” – Visual Journaling Class

If you’d like to delve into the world of art journaling, you’ll love this class. In Visual Journaling you will mix your inner feelings with cool art techniques to make your journal pages pop. This session’s theme is “50 Shades of Grey” — you will explore your hidden desires, dark secrets and fantasies. Create stunning pages that hint at the sensual part of you that’s perhaps been hidden all these years. You will get to know your feminine self through written and visual exercises. Share your innermost thoughts with the class, reveal them to your partner or loved one and take the relationship to another level. You will use poetry and writing with images and art to bring your secrets into the light.

Sensuality and your feminine self is a very personal subject. In this playful class all discussions and art created in class is kept totally private. Come with an open mind and a creative spirit. Explore. Enjoy.

Watercolor/Acrylic Painting

In my painting class you will learn several techniques to create beautiful paintings on canvas or paper. This class is geared for beginning to intermediate students, but all experience levels will benefit. Please bring your paints, brushes, paper and canvas of any size.

Mask Making with Paverpol

Join me at University Art on Marconi for a day of designing and embellishing a stunning, one-of-a-kind fabric mask. Go glitzy, scary, fantasy — you are only limited by your imagination. You’ll learn some of the many uses for Paverpol fabric hardener while you create your mask to display in your home. Adults and kids 10 and up with a registered adult in class are welcome.

SoulCollage(R)

Are you drawn to the idea of making art but still a little timid? SoulCollage(R) is a perfect class for beginners and people with absolutely NO art experience. I’ll show you collage techniques to make your own deck of SoulCollage(R) cards based on the teachings of the SoulCollage(R) creator, Seena B. Frost. While the mechanics of creating SoulCollage(R) cards is simple, the process and ed product yield profound insights into your deepest feelings.

Come with a collection of your favorite personal photos and magazine clippings and be ready for a moving experience. This class offers an opportunity to discuss and share your cards with the group, but if you’re feeling shy, please know that you can just sit back and listen to the group and share only if you’re comfortable. You can join this ongoing class at any time. This class is at University Art on Marconi and Fulton in Sacramento.

BYOB Painting Classes

Back by popular demand………..BYOB Painting. Bring your bottle (wine, not tequila) and glasses to this 2-and-a-half-hour painting class designed for absolute beginners. I promise you will leave here with a finished painting. I can’t make you LOVE it, but I bet you will. All materials are provided to create an 8″ x 10″ acrylic painting on canvas. Come with a playful and open attitude and let’s have fun! Class size is limited to 6 painters, so you will get lots of individual attention. Choose from one of three dates, or come to all three. Bring a date or a friend.

Do you need a girls’ night or an activity for a baby or bridal shower? How about inviting a group of friends over to make custom fitted masks or paint an acrylic painting that they’re proud to hang on their wall?

Book an Art Party in your home or at my studio. I guarantee your friends will laugh, have fun and remember your party as one of the most unique they’ve ever attended. Absolutely NO art experience is necessary, just a willingness to participate and have fun. All materials included.

Artist for Hire

If you’d like to add a fun activity at your next big party and you don’t want a string quartet or a fortune teller, why not hire an artist (me) to paint at your event? You provide a place for me to work and I’ll paint a beautiful canvas as your guests mingle. They’re even able to add a splash to a “Guests’ Painting” that is yours to keep as a memory of your event. What better way to commemorate a special event than with a painting created by your own guests?
